About Chipmunks

Chipmunks Playland & Café is an internationally-trademarked brand that began in New Zealand, shortly expanding to Australia and Indonesia and has now become a well known brand among families as a state of the art entertainment facility and birthday party venue for young children.

Catering to children aged 0-11 years, Chipmunks prides itself on over 22 years of experience, creating a safe environment and indoor playground for children to play, explore and learn. Our stores are well known to host children’s birthday parties and private functions for large groups of kids, with cafes on-site offering fresh, tasty food and drinks to its customers daily as well as catering for birthdays and other special occasions in store.
As a market leader in the industry we have maintained our growth through continuous improvement and constantly adapting to new trends. Our established stores are backed with experienced staff, thorough training and dedicated support to make you feel welcome and at peace that your children are playing in a safe environment while having fun!

Now in our 22nd year of operation, we have built strong relationships with our trusted suppliers which underpins our commitment to providing state-of-the-art playground equipment and facilities that are of the highest safety and operational standards.
In addition, we have created our own brand ambassador, ‘Charlie’ the Chipmunk. Charlie helps us connect with families during visits to the store and has become somewhat of a recognised household name amongst kids. A regular request as our most popular birthday party host and also featuring on merchandise, marketing and in-store equipment.

Always looking for new ideas, Chipmunks was born after founders Lance and Kerri paid a visit to an Auckland-based indoor playground with their then, young son. 18-months later in 1996, they opened their first store in Christchurch. Followed by Dunedin, Invercargill and several other South Island centres. Chipmunks eventually expanded into the North Island market and based on their success, decided to take the company to the Australian market where Chipmunks is now synonymous with fun and value for money.
